c1981 Yamaha SG600 Sunburst

c1981 Yamaha SG600 Sunburst

A classic Japanese-made electric at a great price!

Introduced in the late '70s, the SG model from Yamaha quickly became a bit of cult phenomenon, with players such as Santana, Bob Marley, and Frank Gambale playing one! This particular model, the SG600, is a slightly more stripped-back, yet effortlessly playing example from the early '80s! These featured a solid mahogany body with maple cap in tandem with a mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard.

This example has had what appears to be the tuners replaced with an aftermarket Grover set. It's missing the pickguard, and has stickers applied to the front body and the front of the headstock. Regarding the condition, there is some noticeable lacquer separation/clouding which is primarily focused on the back of the guitar and the back of the headstock. Seems stable, and appears to be a common issue with these models!

Super punchy plugged in, and is well balanced weight wise. The pickups in these instruments are quite versatile, giving you anything from aggressive rock tones in the bridge, to modern jazz-fusion tones in the neck. Fun guitar!

Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low action. Includes an aftermarket gig bag.
